CPS Energy promotes the use of natural gas in homes as this is the most efficient energy source for heat generating appliances. Since every home must use electricity, CPS Energy and its partners, the Certified Smart Energy Builders, encourage homeowners to use as much natural gas as possible in combination with electricity to reduce energy usage and costs. Homes with both electricity and natural gas require at least 20-30 percent less total energy production than homes using only electricity.
